Green Building Certification
Green building corresponds to the practice of creating building structures and using appropriate processes that lead to environment friendly, resource-efficient and sustainable buildings throughout their operational life-cycle. The multi-dimensional approach covers several aspects from siting to design, construction, operation, maintenance, renovation and deconstruction. The design is based on the philosophy that reduces overall impacts on environment and human health. Such buildings not only reduce the impact by using less water, energy or natural resources but strive for a positive impact on the environment positive impact on the environment by generating their own energy or increasing biodiversity.
To promote Green Buildings, various incentives are provided under different schemes. Green Building projects gets “Out of Turn” consideration and priority over other projects for getting environment clearance as per the Office Memorandum, MoEF&CC. Such projects also get free and purchasable FAR options, thus making this environment sustainable effort business lucrative too. Various state governments, for example Haryana, U.P, Punjab, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand etc. have been encouraging the stakeholders to undertake green measures.
